Install Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) 6.6 on Virtualbox

First download Oracle Enterprise Linux from oracle e-delivery site.
Open Virtualbox.
Navigate to Machine → New
Enter the Name, Type and version of the operating system.
Assign Memory

Create a hard drive for the machine.
Select the location and assign space to hard disk.
Click on Create.

Once the machine is created, select the machine and click on Settings → Network

Click on Storage.
Under CD/DVD Drive, select the iso file of the operating system.
Click OK and start the machine.
Select the first option


Since we are doing a fresh installation, ignore the warning message.

Click on Write Changes to Disk

Reboot the system.

Configure the network of the virtual machine so that it can be accessed from the host system.


Type ipconfig in the guest machine.

Now, edit the host file in host machine so that the guest linux machine can be accessed by a name rather than ip address.
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Ping the guest machine.
Install the guest additions.

Now, export the virtual machine so that it will act as a readily available instance for any further environment.
